Mechanical operation of the boat

Before starting-up, make sure the manual “STOP” control is in the de-pressed position. Check also that the engine is not in gear (use the engine clutch button).
Switch on the contact key in order to pre-heat the engine

Very important: each time you start up, make sure the engine cooling water is coming out of the exhaust.

Problems with the propeller can cause a breakdown. If the engine stops, the boat vibrates abnormally or makes slow progress, the propeller may be entangled (plastic bags, vegetation, ropes…).

If this occurs, do not touch the propeller and telephone the base.

  • Your boat is equipped with a bow thruster, to give assistance when manoeuvring your boat.
  • The model varies depending of the boat you have rented:

The bow thrusters must be used sparingly and should never exceed ten consecutive seconds.
The bow thruster is also very “energy-consuming” so using it permanently would cause damage to the battery pack.

Therefore please use it in a moderate way!

Instructions for use:

  • The filtration of the splash pool attachment operates when the boat’s engine is running and stops automatically when it is switched off. There is nothing else you have to do.

  • If however the water doesn’t seem to be very well filtered, check that the skimmer and filter grills are not blocked.

  • The thermostat is pre-set and the temperature is limited to 35°C which generally should be ok for use so please try not to set it higher than this. If you need to reduce the water temperature use the temperature control on the thermostat.

  • The water has already been checked and treated by the technician before the boat was handed over to you. After three or four days you will need to add another chlorine tablet (which should have been given to you when you set off) to the skimmer.

  • If the ambient temperature has been over 35°C, the water will need treating again. Please note that we advise that you treat the water in the evening after use and then leave it overnight before re-entering the following day. Also, be sure to put the chlorine tablet in the skimmer and not directly into the water.

  • The volume of water in the splash pool must not go below the top of the blue section. In case of evaporation, or if the volume of water goes down after use, please top it back up.

  • Two sliding covers mean that the splash pool also converts into an additional terrace – excellent for sunbathing!

All our boats are fitted with an audible engine protection alarm. It operates automatically when the engine overheats due to lack of cooling and/or when oil pressure is insufficient (due to a lack of oil in engine).

Stop the engine immediately and phone the base.

Engine will not start:

  • If no water is coming out of the exhaust: contact the base.
  • If the alarm goes off and the oil-light comes on: stop the engine and contact the base.

For any other issues:

  • Never try to repair them yourself. You’ll probably make it worse and then have to pay for it. Moor up as quickly as possible at the towpath side, then contact the base immediately explaining the problem, its causes and its effects.
  • Give the name of your boat, its exact position (including the kilometric point noted on the waterways guide). If a replacement part is needed, we will try to be on hand as soon and as efficiently as possible.

If a problem occurs outside of your base’s opening hours, leave your message on the answering machine in the briefest possible terms.

Even when following all of the navigation instructions and safety precautions on board, accidents can happen. If you do have an accident immediately inform the base.

  • Don’t make any repairs without consulting us.
  • Fill in the accident report form given to you before your departure.
  • Make a note of the name and address of the captain of the other boat, also of witnesses and the name of the other captain’s company.
  • Wait until the base manager arrives before signing the accident report form.
  • Whenever you leave the boat, don’t forget to lock it up and padlock all bicycles.
  • Don’t leave anything in sight.
  • Prior to your holiday we advise you to contact your insurer about your personal belongings which are not included in your cruise insurance.

In case of emergency, call 112 (an international number for all European Union countries).
